Traitor to Ukraine Karjakin expressed admiration for Putin, calling him a "great geostrategist"

World Rapid Chess Champion (Astana, 2012) and World Blitz Champion (Doha, 2016) Sergey Karjakin has once again expressed admiration for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The traitor to Ukraine, who received a Russian passport in 2009, has issued a traditional narrative about the "great geostrategist."

Karjakin said this in an interview with Championship.com. The accomplice of the dictatorial regime of the Russian president, who actively supports the murder of Ukrainians, also complained about the death of the ardent Ukrainophobe Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The chess player put him on a par with the Kremlin leader.

"If I could play chess with any of the political leaders of the modern world, who would it be? Of course it would be Vladimir Putin. I believe that he plays chess on a geopolitical board, and his game is more complicated because not all of his opponents follow the rules. If we talk about other political leaders, it would have been Zhirinovsky before, but unfortunately, he is no longer with us. He didn't have time. May he rest in peace," Karjakin said.

As reported, Sergey Karjakin recently became a confidant of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in the 2024 presidential election in Russia. The former chess player was included in the list of people who supported Putin's nomination.

It is worth noting that with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Karjakin supported the war and demonstrated the Z-symbol in every possible way, for which he received a six-month disqualification from International Chess Organization.

On June 2 last year, Karjakin received a state award from the aggressor country. This event was called a real disgrace online and the official reason for the authorities' decision was questioned.

Last year, Sergey traveled to Donetsk to deliver aid to the 117th Rifle Regiment of the "People's Militia" of the "DPR".
