What Skoda's first electric car based on the Octavia budget car looked like. Photo
Czech Skoda has set a course for electrification. There are already two such models in the manufacturer's lineup, and there will be more. But it all started with an EV based on the Skoda Octavia budget car, which was shown in a photo on the network.
The car was mentioned in Motor1. The Skoda Octavia A5 electric car was built on the basis of a restyled model in 2010. This is the Skoda Octavia Combi station wagon.
The car received a modernized styling with light colors. The décor, lighting, and wheel disks were replaced. The name of the prototype is Skoda Octavia Green E Line. At the time, it was still fashionable to associate electric cars with the "green" theme.
The power of the power plant is 82 hp (115 hp in peak mode). A small lithium-ion battery provided a range of 140 km. The company said that this was enough for European buyers.
Interestingly, the Skoda Octavia was upgraded to an electric car without compromise: there was still room for five in the cabin, and the trunk was almost the same size. In 2011, prototype testing was launched. The model did not go into mass production, but it is noted that the company has studied the technology and received valuable information for the further development of EVs.
