Everyone wants their clothes to stay in good condition for as long as possible. However, this requires proper care.

Improper washing can cause clothes to shrink, damage the fabric, etc., so you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations. The Sun has explained how to do this.

Each piece of clothing has a tag with up to five basic symbols printed on it. They tell you how to properly wash, dry, and iron a particular item. Some of them are intuitive, but some raise a lot of questions, such as the triangle.

The triangles on clothing labels provide instructions on whether or not you can use bleach in your laundry. Understanding their meanings will help you keep your clothes in good condition, avoid damage, and extend their life.

There are several variants of triangle symbols, each with its specific meaning:

  • An empty triangle – you can bleach this garment without any problems;
  • Crossed triangle or black triangle – in no case should the item be bleached;
  • A triangle with two diagonal lines or a triangle with the abbreviation CL and a cross on top – only chlorine-free bleach can be used;
  • A triangle with the abbreviation CL – chlorine bleach can be used.

Improper use of bleaches can cause significant damage to the fabric, discoloration, or even destruction of the product. Bleaches can be quite aggressive, especially those containing chlorine, so not every fabric can withstand their effects. Therefore, before washing, be sure to read the instructions on the labels and follow them.
