The baby pygmy hippo Mu Den, born two months ago in an open zoo in Thailand, has already become a star of the Internet. Videos with this cute baby are gaining millions of views on social networks X, Facebook and TikTok.

According to zoo director Narongwit Chodchoy, Mu Den's natural cuteness is drawing attention to the endangered species. In addition, statistics show that the number of visitors to the zoo has increased by at least 30%, writes NBC News.

Pygmy hippos have been classified as an endangered species and their numbers are dwindling due to poaching. According to the Pygmy Hippo Foundation, there are only about 2,000 pygmy hippos left in the wild. Therefore, zoologists say that it is very important to promote and protect these cute creatures.

That's exactly what baby Moo Den is doing. From the first publications of the video of this baby, the clips went viral. The name for the newborn female was chosen by the whole Internet. They decided on Mu Den, which means "jumping pig" in Thai. After all, this girl is quite agile.

Even Hollywood stars can envy the popularity of Mu Deng. After all, this dwarf hippo is starring in commercials and has already become a brand ambassador in Thailand. Cosmetics firm Sephora advertises its blush "to achieve that peachy-pink cheek shade like Moo Deng's." And a bakery in Bangkok said on Facebook that it would have to limit orders for its cakes resembling a baby hippo because demand has become so high.

Like any celebrity, Mu Den has dozens of fan pages on social media with photos and videos capturing every moment of her life: napping, walking around her enclosure, bathing... And the toothless munching of the tiny hippo has become an unqualified Internet hit.

Fans flooded the open-air Khao Kheow Zoo in eastern Thailand. The guardians are even concerned about such excessive attention. Officials have therefore warned that visitors should be as restrained as possible and not harm the famous hippo.
