The profession of an English teacher is in high demand – the number of vacancies for it on HR portals is several hundred. At the same time, some employers are willing to pay such specialists 40,000 and even 60,000 UAH.

For example, an online language school is looking for a teacher with only B2-C2 fluency. They promise to pay from 10,000 to 40,000 UAH.

An educational company is ready to pay from 20,000 to 40,000 UAH to an English teacher who will have to work with corporate clients. Among the requirements:

  • at least 1 year of experience in the corporate segment;
  • English language proficiency level C1 and above according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

The School of Foreign Languages is looking for an English teacher with a salary of UAH 35,000 to 60,000. The candidate is expected to have an advanced level of English (C1-C2). It is also said that having an International Certificate of English will be a plus.

Ukraine has a large shortage of workers in highly-paid professions

At the same time, according to Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development, some companies in the transport and logistics sector of Ukraine have a shortage of drivers of up to 50%. The reason is the mobilization of workers.

It will not be possible to fill all the available vacancies with the help of women, although work is underway in this direction. At the same time, there are a lot of high-paying vacancies for international drivers on the market today – some companies offer a salary of UAH 110,000.

Derkach noted that in general, in the transport and logistics sector in Ukraine, the shortage of drivers reaches 25% of the demand. And in the field of passenger transportation in cities – up to 30%.

"25% (shortage of truck drivers – Ed.) is a preliminary figure that we have collected from carriers and logistics companies. In some companies, this figure reaches even more than 50%, because it is a matter of mobilization. In numbers, this is about 30 thousand UAH of drivers who are needed as truck drivers," said Derkach.

He emphasized that about 30% of drivers are missing in public passenger transport. This is about 6,000 out of the 14,000 specialists the industry needs.

At the same time, Derkach admitted that the goal of the project to train women truck drivers is not to fill all existing vacancies. After all, this "will not solve the situation globally."

"The project should change the perception of a woman driving a truck in the eyes of employers. It should show that it is possible and can be a way out of the situation," the deputy minister said.
