Chinese national hockey team banned from playing in tournament in Russia
The Chinese national ice hockey team has refused to participate in the Channel One Cup, which will be held in St. Petersburg from December 14 to 17. Russia's eastern neighbors explained their decision by the Ministry of Sport's ban on matches with teams from the aggressor country.
This was stated by the head coach of the Russia-25 team, Roman Rotenberg, in a commentary to the propaganda news agency RIA Novosti. According to him, the organizers of the competition were unaware that Chinese athletes were banned from competing with representatives of the Russian Federation.
"The Chinese national team refers to the Ministry of Sports. To the ban from the Chinese Minister of Sports. That's all they told us. We don't know about a specific ban on playing Russia. We have no other information. We received an official letter: "Due to a ban from the Chinese Ministry of Sports, we will not be able to participate in the tournament." That's all we know. Of course, it is important for us to have more countries participate. The Chinese national team is also important to us. They have a strong team, as you can see from Kunlun," Rotenberg said.
Earlier, the famous hockey coach Andrei Nazarov, in his patriotic frenzy, expressed the absurd idea that Finland looks at Russians with envy.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Russian women's national hockey team lost to the men's junior team at the Presidential Sports Club Cup tournament, staging a "mega-fight".
