Among Ukrainians living in Poland, 40% live on money from Ukraine. At the same time, 53% of these people say that the amount of their monthly expenses has changed, in particular because they lost their remote jobs in Ukraine or their relatives stopped providing support. At the same time, 60% of Ukrainians in Poland have not used money earned in Ukraine over the past year.

"Among the changes in spending, 20% say that it is due to the appearance of work in Poland," a large recruitment agency told OBOZ.UA. They noted:

  • another 15% of respondents admitted that they changed the amount of their expenses because they ran out of money earned in Ukraine;
  • 4% lost their remote jobs in Ukraine;
  • 4% - because relatives stopped supporting them;
  • 57% did not specify the reason.

At the same time, the agency draws attention to the fact that 60% of Ukrainian citizens do not use money earned in Ukraine. This probably "indicates that they have already adapted to life in Poland, and against the background of the continuation of the refugee protection program, they do not plan to return."

"60% of Ukrainians in Poland did not use the money they earned in Ukraine over the past year. 27% had their own savings that they spent in Poland. 10% used family money, and 3% had remote work in Ukraine," the report stated.

Ukrainians leave to work in wealthier countries

Poland itself lacks Ukrainian workers. Thus, in the summer in Poland, you can earn 5-9 thousand zlotys (50-91 thousand UAH), according to the EWL Migration Platform. However, for the second year in a row, the country has been experiencing a staff shortage.

The fact is that Ukrainian citizens, who usually come for seasonal work in the summer, are now choosing Western European countries. The reason is higher salaries and the openness of their labor markets after the full-scale invasion.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, earlier about 5 thousand Ukrainians were found working illegally in Poland. At the same time, according to the National Labor Inspectorate, their number increased significantly in 2023.
