What cities to visit in Europe that start with the letter A

What can you think of when you don't know where to go on a trip? You don't have to search for attractions on your own as we've already done everything for you. All you have to do is choose a vacation destination.

Alicante, Spain

The Spanish resort welcomes tourists every year. The history of the city dates back to the times of the Carthaginian state. Since then, many attractions have been preserved here, making the province even more attractive to foreigners.

In spring, Alicante is just beginning to come to life. The water is still cool, but there are daredevils who are already opening the swimming season. If you are not afraid of the "icy tongues" of the Mediterranean Sea, feel free to dive in. And if you have enough extreme sports, go to the Santa Barbara fortress.

We warn you right away: the fortress is huge and has many interesting things to see. Therefore, you should set aside at least a few hours to see it. The fortification was built in the IX century. During its lifetime, it repeatedly took part in hostilities. And it managed not only to survive to this day but also to be perfectly preserved.

There is an observation deck here that offers a great view of the city. It is located on the roof of the bastion. The outpost itself is located on the mountain. There are two ways to get to it: by high-speed elevator and by a winding path.

There are several halls for tourists, where various artifacts and finds are displayed. There is also a tiny market and a cafe in the courtyard. So you can have a bite to eat and buy souvenirs on the spot.

We recommend going to El Palmeral Park. This is a small oasis where you can relax from the bustle of the city. There is an artificial waterfall, lots of palm trees and other vegetation. By the way, a bridge has been built near the cascade so that everyone can admire the beauty.

Also, check out the museums. There are a lot of them in Alicante. Among them, we recommend choosing: contemporary art, archaeological, Lucentum, Volvo Ocean Race. And be sure to visit the Central Market and the Casco Antiguo neighborhood.

Antwerp, Belgium

Have you already explored Brussels and Bruges? Then go to this Belgian city. It's cozy, friendly and completely unpredictable. By the way, if you arrive at the train station, don't rush to call a taxi. This is one of the most beautiful stations in the world. Time stands still here and seems to take you back to history. There are marble floors, stained glass windows, columns, and high ceilings everywhere. A few minutes will definitely not be enough to see all the beauty.

Then head to the triangular Grote Markt square. It used to be a marketplace. Merchants from all over the country came here to sell their goods. But later the tradition faded away. Perhaps the decline followed the Spanish Rage. At that time, many ancient buildings were destroyed. But fortunately, some of them survived. Nowadays, only a few buildings are authentic. All the rest are reconstructed.

Be sure to visit Het Steen, the oldest building in Antwerp, and museums like Rubens, Fine Arts, Fashion and MAS.

Abertamy, Czech Republic

This small Czech province is probably known only to those who enjoy skiing. The town is located 16 kilometers from the famous Karlovy Vary resort.

Abertamy is quite tiny. About 1500 people live here. If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle, go here.

First of all, we advise you to go to Mount Plešivec. In winter, avid skiers and snowboarders come down from it. And in spring, you can admire the beautiful scenery.

There are many educational trails in the province that offer interesting excursions. For example, walking along the Hřebečná trail, tourists get to know the most important tin mining center.

In the city, visit the Church of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. The Baroque building was built in 1736 and was modernized in the nineteenth century.

Augustów, Poland

The Polish health resort is famous for its healing mud. People come here to improve their health and relax their body and soul. By the way, the sanatorium is known not only in the country but also abroad.

The town has its own mineral water, which is extracted from a depth of 482 meters. The source was first dug in 1968. The rehabilitation center is located 3 kilometers from Augustów. It specializes in the treatment of cardiac diseases, obesity, osteoporosis, etc.

The province is known not only as a health resort but also as an interesting tourist destination. People come here to visit the Augustów Canal, a historic complex of 14 locks and navigable waterways. By the way, boating competitions are often organized here.

We advise you to visit the museum of the same name and the Wigry National Park, a reserve for beavers and great cormorants.

Travel. Dream. Discover new cities and places. You have one life and there are still so many unexplored locations.
