In Ukraine, you can earn good money without a university degree, particularly if you have a working profession. For example, in Kyiv, employers are willing to pay representatives of some specialties UAH 37 thousand or more.

In particular, car mechanics in Kyiv can expect an average of UAH 40 thousand. At the same time, according to a major HR portal, employers in Ukraine are willing to pay such specialists much less – an average of UAH 35 thousand.

At the same time, some companies offer much more. For example, a popular job search site offers a vacancy for a car mechanic with a salary of 70 to 100 thousand.

Car locksmiths can count on an average of 40 thousand UAH

Car tinters can also count on an average salary of UAH 40 thousand. Just like car mechanics, they can earn more in Kyiv than in any other city in Ukraine – on average, they are paid UAH 32,500.

At the same time, some companies offer jobs with salaries much higher than the market average. Some are willing to pay such specialists UAH 45-80 thousand.

Excavators in Kyiv are offered an average of UAH 37.5 thousand. This is UAH 2.5 thousand higher than the national average.

At the same time, vacancies with higher salaries are not uncommon on the market. Thus, one company is looking for an excavator operator for UAH 44-56 thousand.

The salary used to calculate pensions has increased sharply in Ukraine

In June, the average salary used to calculate pensions amounted to UAH 18,806. This is UAH 1,628 more than in the previous month and almost UAH 4,000 more than in January 2024. According to the Pension Fund, the calculation is based on a number of indicators. In particular:

  • data from insurers' reports on wages/income on which a single contribution is charged;
  • the average number of full-time employees employed by organizations of all forms of ownership and activity.

Thus, in 2024, the average wage in Ukraine, which is taken into account for pension calculation, was

  • January – UAH 14,974
  • February – UAH 15,267 (+UAH 293 compared to the previous month);
  • March – 15,433 UAH (+116 UAH);
  • April – 16,847 UAH (+1,414 UAH);
  • May – 17,178 UAH (+331 UAH);
  • June – UAH 18,806 (+1,628).
