British boxer Dereck Chisora (34-13, 23 KOs) has expressed the opinion that the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) will not take place. According to him, our compatriot is allegedly going to vacate all the belts and return to the heavyweight division.
Chisora said this in an interview with Boxing Social YouTube channel, citing rumors circulating in the boxing world. He also added that if the rematch between the British and Ukrainian takes place, it will not involve the title of absolute world heavyweight champion.
"There's no point in worrying about a rematch because the era of absolute championship is over. The IBF will deprive Usyk of the title. I've heard rumors... Whatever, I'm going to spread these rumors anyway. Alexander is going down to the cruiserweight division. That's what they say," Chisora said.
It should be noted that a week before the fight with Fury on May 18, Usyk himself did say that he could return to the heavyweight division. "Maybe I'll return to cruiserweight and win there," the Ukrainian said in an interview with TNT Sports.
It is worth noting that bookmakers have already started accepting bets on the rematch between Usyk and Fury. Tyson's promoter Frank Warren confirmed his client's intention to fight the Ukrainian again.
At the same time, it became known that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) may leave the Ukrainian with the organization's belt. The media found out three reasons for this.
