Famous Ukrainian runner Kateryna Klymiuk-Karpiuk lost her victory in the 400-meter race in an offensive way. At the Ukrainian Athletics Championships in Kyiv, the 28-year-old native of Rivne fell a meter short of the finish line.
Kateryna was leading the race and had a great chance to take the gold medal when her legs suddenly "gave out." Commenting on the incident, Klymyuk-Karpiuk admitted that she did not think that the results of the season would look like this for her.
"A second before I fell, I managed to ask myself, 'Where are my legs? I have nothing to run with. Oh, no, I'll fall before the finish, not after." My eyes went dark, and it was as if someone had pulled the TV cord out of the socket - the screen went out," the athlete wrote on Intagram.
Tetiana Kharashchuk won the race. Tetiana Melnyk finished second. "Tetiana Bezkrovna won the bronze medal.
