Scientists have developed a "chemical cocktail" that can prevent old age

Scientists have managed to develop a cocktail of special chemicals that can completely rejuvenate the entire body, from the eyes to the brain, returning it to a younger state. The authors of the miracle cocktail are already calling it a promising new discovery.

The study is described in the scientific journal Aging. The team of scientists consisted of researchers from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"We have identified six chemical cocktails that restore a young genomic profile of transcripts (RNA molecules) in less than a week and without compromising cellular identity and reverse transcriptomic age," the article says.

This discovery, as the scientists note, shows that rejuvenation by age reversal can be achieved "not only by genetic but also by chemical means."

The researchers claim to have identified six treatments that can stop cellular aging and return them to a more "youthful state." At the same time, this treatment does not lead to dangerous unregulated cell growth.

However, it is too early to say that people have overcome old age, Futurism writes. The research was conducted on laboratory tissues and showed "encouraging results" in tests on mice and monkeys. However, as of now, none of the cocktails have been tested on humans.

Harvard Medical School professor David Sinclair, who was the principal investigator of the project, says that preparations for the human trial phase are already underway.

"Until recently, the best we could do was slow down aging. New discoveries suggest that we can now change that," the scientist said in a press release about the study's findings.

As part of the research, scientists studied molecules that are present in some animal species and can reprogram any cells in the body into pluripotent stem cells, which can turn into any type of cell within the body. It is thanks to these cells that some animals have the ability to regrow lost limbs or horns.

Scientists tested them on specialized cell cultures that showed certain markers of aging.

Based on these laboratory studies, six chemical combinations were identified that, according to scientists, stop aging in just four days of treatment. At the same time, unlike gene therapy, this treatment does not change the identity of cells.
