Russians complained about drone attacks in Saratov and Engels. Photos and videos
On the morning of August 26, the Saratov region of the Russian Federation complained of a drone attack, particularly in the area of the Engels-2 military airfield, from where the bombers took off to strike Ukraine. After the explosions, the Russians claimed that high-rise buildings in the city and the regional center were damaged, allegedly due to falling drone debris.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have "successfully shot down 20 UAVs" in many regions. At the same time, residents complained about the lack of bomb shelters.
According to propaganda publics, the Saratov region was attacked by "several drones at once." The flight of one of them was captured on camera by eyewitnesses.
The Russians said that the first explosions were heard in Saratov at about 06:10 local time and another series of explosions about 15 minutes later.
Later, they posted online footage of the damage to the 38-story Volga Sky residential complex on the waterfront in Saratov. The Engels City 4 high-rise building on Pushkin Street in Engels was also hit.
The governor of the region, Roman Busargin, claimed that the drones had been eliminated and that the houses had been hit by their alleged debris. He assured Russians that all emergency services were working in an enhanced mode.
Later, the official confirmed that there were victims of the morning's events: four of them, several of whom were "hospitalized in serious condition."
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry reported "the destruction and interception of 20 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs" allegedly over the territory of Saratov, Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Tula, Orel, and Ryazan regions.
After the attack, "temporary restrictions on the reception and departure of aircraft" were introduced at Saratov airport
Following this, online propagandists wrote that UAVs, not their wreckage, "hit two high-rise buildings" in Saratov and Engels. They "figured out" that these were "Ukrainian Armed Forces Beaver drones" that looked like airplanes.
"There it is, there it is, look! It's flying right at my house," a Russian man shouted as he filmed the alleged UAV attacking a high-rise building in Saratov.
At the same time, residents of the Russian Federation complained in local publics about their government, saying that it had allowed "drones to reach cities." They also wondered why sirens were being sounded, and "the people are not protected" because "there are no bomb shelters."
"In Engels, they built houses on the way of UAVs to the airfield and this is the result. No conscience at all," Ukrainian monitoring channels ironically commented on the events in the aggressor country.
It is noted that it takes nine minutes to drive from the residential complex in Engels to the flight military unit and the military airfield of the same name. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Engels-2 has become one of the Russian airfields used by the aggressor to launch missile strikes against Ukraine. On the morning of August 26, when the Russians complained about the "UAV attack," Russian troops were attacking Ukrainian cities with Shaheds and preparing to launch missiles from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers that took off from Engels-2, among other places.
