Kuban refinery suspends operations after overnight drone attack: all details

The management of the oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban (Russia) has announced that it is shutting down the enterprise after a nighttime drone attack. Currently, Slavyansk ECO is assessing the damage caused by the explosions at the refinery.

It is noteworthy that at the same time, Russian officials report "successful operation of air defense" and the absence of destruction. This is reported by propaganda Telegram channels.

Eduard Trudnev, Director of Integrated Security at Slavyansk ECO Group, complained that the Slavyansk-on-Kuban refinery had suspended operations after drone "crash". He also said that law enforcement agencies are working on the territory of the enterprise and the management is assessing the damage.

According to Kremlin propagandists, six drones "crashed" on the territory of the refinery in Slovyansk-on-Kuban. The Russian Federation also claims that the "crash" caused two explosions on the territory of the plant.

The Slavyansk-EKO refinery is located in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. The company processes about 4 million tons of products per year.

As a reminder, on the night of May 19, explosions and fires broke out in a number of regions of the aggressor country Russia, including near airfields and oil refineries. In particular, it was loud near Belgorod, in the Krasnodar Territory and Leningrad region.

Earlier, it was reported that drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine attacked the Volgograd oil refinery in Russia on the night of May 11. As a result, the primary oil processing unit and other equipment were damaged.

As reported earlier, according to the Pentagon's intelligence agency, Ukrainian drones disabled 14% of Russia's oil refining capacity in early 2024. This led to an increase in domestic fuel prices.
