How to make your face look younger and more radiant: simple makeup life hacks

Life hacks for radiant skin

Skin texture changes with age, so you should adjust your daily skincare routine. When choosing cosmetics, it's important to consider your skin type, moisture level, wrinkles, sensitivity, and other aspects that affect the quality of your makeup.

This, of course, does not mean that when you reach, say, 40 or 50 years of age, you immediately cross some invisible line after which you will have to change everything about your style or makeup preferences. Experts told us about the most effective beauty investments that will help make your face look fresh and radiant.

Morag Ross, a famous BAFTA award-winning makeup artist, and Elizabeth Ross, a cosmetologist, shared fail-safe techniques and practical tips that are easy to implement in your everyday makeup routine.

Tip 1: moisturize

As you age, it's important to focus on quality care and choose products that match your skin type. You should use more moisturizers to prevent dryness and wrinkles.

Choosing a more occlusive moisturizer (a cream that retains moisture by creating a layer on the skin) will be a great investment in beauty and youthfulness. The ingredients may include niacinamide or hyaluronic acid. You should also pay attention to argan oil, jojoba oil, or shea butter, as they will help keep the skin supple and balance the moisture level.

Tip 2: Eye cream

Eye creams are essential for preventing the appearance of early wrinkles. They also act as a more natural alternative to Botox, creating a smooth, plumping base for makeup. Eye cream is best used after serum and before moisturizer.

Tip 3: Primer

A high-quality primer will help create a soft base for foundation.

"If you wear lipstick, use a primer and lip pencil in the same shade as your lipstick to prevent smudging or the appearance of fine vertical lines above and below the lips that we usually see in older women," said Elizabeth Ross.

It's important not to use a matte foundation base for your foundation: this will result in a smooth, powdered look that can even emphasize wrinkles.

Tip 4: eyeliner

Improper application of eyeliner or liner is one of the most common age-adding mistakes. If you have deep-set eyes, use eyeliner only on the eyelids, close to the lashes. In case of overhanging eyelids, use eyeliner only for the waterline and outer corners - this will help emphasize the shape of your eyes.

Focus the glare on the corners of the eyes - this life hack is great for evening makeup. A thin highlighter that offers a diffused glow instead of a full shimmer will come in handy.

Tip 5: cream blush

Avoid contouring, which involves using dark bronzer to thin out certain areas of the face, such as hollows in the cheeks, as this can lead to harsh features.

One of the easiest and most effective tips is to apply a light layer of cream blush for an instant glow and natural flush.

Tip 6: Lipstick or lip gloss

With age, dry skin becomes more noticeable, so makeup artists advise against matte lipsticks.

"As our lips tend to get smaller as we age, nude pastel colors work to counteract this, making lips look fuller and plumper," advises Morag Ross.

However, this is not a reason to give up bright accent lips. It is important to simply choose a softer creamy composition or better gloss.

Tip 7: sun protection

Most importantly, don't forget about SPF protection. Choose a sunscreen with a high factor or invest in a foundation with an SPF of at least 30. This will help prevent wrinkles and reduce the risk of skin cancer, dermatologists say.
