How to grow giant pumpkins without chemicals: two secrets

Pumpkins are delicious and healthy vegetables. However, often instead of a generous large harvest, frail, empty fruits ripen in the fall. It's all about growing technology, experts say.

Secret #1

Pumpkins grow well on fertile soils and need a lot of sunlight. Experienced gardeners suggest planting seedlings near a compost pit.

Put unnecessary garden vegetation in a small hole in the garden bed and cover it with soil. Then you should plant the pre-prepared seedlings on the "compost bed".

After the first fruits appear, experts advise cutting the whip, on which the fruit is located during ripening, above 1 m and getting rid of the side shoots. The soil around the pumpkins should be dug up well and fertilized. The lashes should be sprinkled with soil 10-12 cm from the pumpkin head itself.

Secret #2.

Experts also recommend trying the "barrel" method of growing pumpkins.

1. You need to take a barrel without a bottom and dig it a quarter of the way into the ground.
2. Next, fill the barrel halfway with compost and humus, and add soil on top.
3. The next step is to transplant the strongest seedling into a barrel. When the first fruit appears, you should get rid of the side shoots.
