About 77% of Russians support the actions of their troops in Ukraine (42% said "definitely yes" and 35% said "rather yes"). 16% of respondents do not support them, and another 8% are undecided.

These are the results of a sociological survey conducted in January 2024 by the Levada Center. The organization's website notes that support for the Russian army has remained steadily high among Russian residents since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The most frequent support for the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine is expressed by older age groups (81% of respondents aged 55 and older), those who trust information from television (88%), those who believe that things are going in the right direction in the country (89%), and those who approve of the activities of dictator Vladimir Putin as president (84%).

At the same time, only half of the respondents follow the events in Ukraine (20% - "very closely", another 34% - "quite closely"). 35% of Russians follow without much attention or do not follow at all (14%).

Nevertheless, there are more supporters of initiating peace talks than supporters of continuing military operations: 52% vs. 40%, respectively.

45% of residents of the Russian Federation believe that the war against Ukraine will last more than a year. 23% think it will last from half a year to a year.

One-third of Russians believe that people like them are morally responsible for the deaths of civilians and destruction in Ukraine (10% - definitely responsible, 21% - somewhat responsible). The opposite stance is held by 62% of respondents.
