Residents of Kolomyia are outraged by the TV series "Make it to 30"

A scandal has erupted around the new TV series "Make it to 30" broadcast on TET. Residents of the city of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region, were outraged by the "distorted" portrayal of the heroine from their city.

The community's discontent was supported by the mayor of Kolomyia, Bohdan Stanislavskyi. On his Facebook page, he accused the project creators of working in the "worst traditions of Russian propaganda's portrayal of Ukrainians" (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The story is about the character Lyuba, who moved to Kyiv and met two other girls. According to Versii, a resident of a distinctive and cultural city has been turned into a "disturbed village" whose main word in the vocabulary is "yokalemen."

Lyuba, played by actress Anastasia Ostreinova, is clumsy, naive, quarrelsome, and shameless. This is how Ukrainians were usually portrayed in Russian TV series, such as the nanny Vika from My Beautiful Nanny or Tamara from Daddy's Daughters.

"This caricatured, grotesque image of a person 'from the village', built on the worst traditions of Russian propaganda's portrayal of Ukrainians, definitely does not correlate with the residents of Kolomyia. If the authors of the series wanted to create a character from Kolomyia so badly, they should have taken an interest in the specifics and peculiarities of life in our city, which we really have a lot of. They are not so primitive, low-grade and Russified, but original and unique," the mayor wrote.

He assured us that he is already preparing an appeal to the TET TV channel demanding an apology to the residents of Kolomyia and to remove the series from the air and online platforms.

The episodes are now available on YouTube. They appeared there two weeks ago and have been collecting millions of views.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that the feedback from viewers of the First Days series about the outbreak of a full-scale war was quite controversial. Many Ukrainians accused the series of lying, saying they were ashamed of it.
