A place where the nature of the V-X centuries is recreated: let's explore Nature Park Beremytske near Chernihiv
Today we are going on a trip to a nature reserve in northern Ukraine. Here every tourist can go through the doors of the past and plunge into the amazing world of flora and fauna.
History of creation
Rewilding is the restoration of typical ecosystems by reintroducing large animals to the area. The idea of a protected area was born in 2015. However, the specific outlines of the project had not yet emerged. Therefore, the team went to their colleagues from Hungary and the Netherlands for knowledge.
The founders chose a part of Sivershchyna in the Chernihiv district to create the facility. It all started with work on artificial ponds for birds and other animals. Today, the territory has expanded to almost 500 hectares.
Purpose
Restore the wild state as close to its original state as possible. For example, herbivores spread seeds and loosen the soil, which have a positive impact on the environment.
Inhabitants of the reserve
The reserve is home to aurochs, tarpan horses, mouflon, fallow deer, deer and roe deer. And in the spacious enclosures you can see white oxen. They were once domesticated by Trypillians. In addition to animals, there are birds and insects in Beremytske.
Here they do not utilize logs that have fallen naturally on the ground. Mushrooms grow on old stumps, and many bugs breed in dead wood. In addition, a variety of plants typical of Ukrainian Polissia grow here: oak, pine, spruce, aspen, and others.
The workers also take care of beehives. The owners place special hollows in the trees where bees nest. Their honey is 5 times more expensive than usual because it is harvested once a year.
Active recreation
The park has been open since the end of 2017. There are tourist routes for sightseeing tours on its territory. By the way, when you are here, be sure to visit the Wild Cats Museum. It is famous for its state-of-the-art technology. All information about animals can be read on screens and holograms. It also offers a virtual immersion in the atmosphere of the place. You just need to wear special glasses.
When visiting the stables, you can choose a horse for a ride in a two-horse carriage or stagecoach. You can also attend a master class on stallion care or order a photo shoot. In addition, there is a variety of equipment for rent for cycling, as well as snowshoes, binoculars, and trekking poles.
Among the interesting ways to relax are traditional archery and a bee apiary for health improvement.
They also offer to plant a tree or a bush. After that, they immediately make a fence so that animals do not harm the new plant. A sign with the name of the organization or the name of the person who joined the greening initiative is added nearby.
If you want to come here for a few days, there are houses and a campsite with all the necessary utensils. The tent accommodation includes showers and toilets, power outlets, barbecue areas, security and parking. For picnics, you can rent gazebos with large barbecues, firewood and charcoal.
For educators
The founders invite you to explore nature and ecology through various lectures for adults and children. All events are organized to remind us how important it is to preserve the environment.
How to get there
One of the most important advantages of the park is its convenient location. It is located not far from the town of Oster (Chernihiv Oblast), just 6.5 kilometers away. It takes 1.5 hours to get there by car from Kyiv, and 1 hour from Brovary.
"Green" leisure is perfect for true connoisseurs of ecotourism and beyond. If you are tired of the city noise, come here. Here you can have a good rest.
