"They drive personal cars that are not registered with Thailand's transport department as service vehicles and pick up tourists who book them through a Russian app, offering a price almost 20 percent cheaper than us," Phuket Minibus Drivers Club president Prayut Thongmusik told Alt.

Thais complain online that the authorities should intervene and act in the interests of the country's residents rather than "guests" trying to make money in Thailand while businesses in the Russian Federation are suffering from sanctions.

To settle the mood in society, law enforcers have begun detaining and fining Russians who open illegal businesses or violate the country's laws in other ways.
