How to clean your computer monitor: safe life hacks

Yulia PoteriankoLife
Cleaning your monitor requires a delicate approach

It's pointless to deny it – we all eat and drink in front of our computer screens. We won't argue about the habit itself, everyone decides for themselves, but let's talk about a common consequence of this behavior – spots on the screen. They interfere with your work and entertainment with your gadget. But you need to know how to clean them without damaging the device.

To help you do it right, OBOZ.UA has collected all the proven life hacks. They will help you clean the screen safely and without leaving streaks on it.

Brush off the dust with a brush

A special dust brush will allow you to clean the screen carefully enough not to damage it. Gently sweep it across the surface of the screen, paying particular attention to the corners and edges. You can also use a dry, soft brush instead.

Take a microfiber cloth

Paper towels, old cotton T-shirts, or kitchen napkins are not suitable for cleaning your screen. They can scratch it. The best material is microfiber. Its ultra-fine fibers attract and remove dust even without applying pressure to the surface. If the monitor is relatively clean, just lightly wipe it with a microfiber cloth in a circular motion. In soiled areas, stay longer, but do not apply pressure to the surface.

Use distilled water

Contrary to stereotypes, screens are best cleaned with water. But it should be distilled water that does not contain any impurities, and you should use only a little. Put a few drops on a microfiber cloth so that it is slightly moistened, or gently spray a few drops on the screen and then wipe it with light circular motions. This will remove light smudges and fingerprints.

Add vinegar

If the stains are more stubborn than you expected, add a little white vinegar to the distilled water. But make the solution weak. There should be 2 or 3 parts of water to 1 part of vinegar. This treatment should be enough to get rid of most food stains.

Isopropyl alcohol for tough cases

If the stains are very stubborn, isopropyl alcohol can be an effective solution but do not use it in its pure form. Dilute it in equal proportions with distilled water and apply it to the screen with a microfiber. The main condition remains the same – no pressure, it is better to rub a little longer.
