How to quickly get rid of soap scum and limescale in the bathroom: an easy way

The product is suitable for both general and regular cleaning.

The bathroom needs regular and thorough cleaning, as soap scum and lime residues from the water often collect on the tiles. They greatly spoil the interior and eventually turn into a coating that can only be removed together with the wall and floor finishes. Therefore, it is important to know how to clean tiles from limescale and soap stains.

Sante Plus magazine has shared a few life hacks. They require very simple and inexpensive ingredients. Here's a complete list of what you need to prepare a tile cleaner:

  • 0.5 cups of fresh lemon juice;
  • 2 tablespoons of toothpaste;
  • 2 tablespoons of white vinegar;
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda;
  • 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid.

All these ingredients should be thoroughly mixed in a bowl that will be convenient for dipping the sponge into. Then you just need to apply the mixture to the stains with the sponge, leave it to act for 10-15 minutes, rub it and rinse the cleaned area with water. For more stubborn stains, you may need several such approaches. Then wipe the cleaned area with a dry cloth or paper towel.

For regular weekly cleaning, the mixture can be poured into a spray bottle and applied to the tiles to easily rinse them of minor stains. In this case, you won't have to scrub the walls and floor too hard - the stains will dissolve completely in a matter of minutes.

However, cleaning the tiles alone may not be enough. Sometimes, so much limescale accumulates in the tile joints that mould develops on them. To clean them, you will need hydrogen peroxide, vinegar or soda.

How to clean grout with peroxide

Spray pharmacy peroxide on the seams and scrub them well with a brush. If this doesn't work, dilute baking soda with peroxide to a paste and use this abrasive to clean the seams. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, peroxide also disinfects the grout between tiles.

Cleaning the grout with vinegar

To combat grout stains, mix white vinegar with warm water in a 1:1 ratio, spray the problem areas with this liquid from a spray bottle, and then scrub them with a brush 5 minutes later. Then you just need to rinse the seams with water.

Soda abrasive for tile joints

Soda, as a universal cleaning agent, will also help with tile joints. Mix it with water to a paste consistency, apply it for 10 minutes and brush the joints. The remnants of the product should be easily washed off with warm water.
