DonnaJean Wilde is a 58-year-old retired teacher from Canada, and recently a world record holder. The woman stood in the bar for 4 hours 30 minutes and 11 seconds, which allowed her to get into the Guinness Book of Records.
With her impressive result, DonnaJean overtook the previous record holder, Dana Glavka (also from Canada), who stood in the bar for 4 hours 19 minutes and 55 seconds in 2019. The new record was announced on the Guinness World Records website.
It is known that 58-year-old DonnaJean worked for many years as a teacher at Magrath Elementary and Middle School, and also served as the school's deputy principal until her recent retirement.
12 years ago, she started swimming after she fell and broke her wrist, which left her unable to run or lift weights in a cast.
Over time, she began to practice standing in the plank. She constantly increased the time of the exercise and at some point began to stand in the plank for three hours every day.
The athlete's husband was the main inspiration and initiator of his beloved's attempt to break the world record. On X Day, he and his children and grandchildren, 12 of them (!), gathered together to cheer on his wife, mother, and grandmother.
In the end, the 58-year-old former teacher broke the previous record by standing in the plank for 10 minutes longer.
"My elbows hurt a lot. I was really worried that I would lose my form, and I think that's why my quads hurt, because I was very tense. The last hour was the most difficult, I just tried to focus and keep my form," commented the record holder immediately after winning the championship.
Commentators, meanwhile, are reacting with delight to the pensioner's results. On the Guinness World Records page on the X network (formerly Twitter), they call DonnaJean Wilde a "superhuman" and admit that they could not have stood in the bar for five minutes.
"If you've ever held the bar for 5 minutes, you know that's not normal. The gods now walk among us," "Wow! For me, 5 minutes of this is just unbearable. Congratulations to her!", "This is an extraordinary feat", "Amazing... I can barely hold the bar for 3 minutes", "If you try it for at least three minutes, you will realize that four hours and thirty minutes is a very long time", "Everyone here writes about 5 minutes, and I will be shaking to fall over in the first minute. Congratulations to her. There's an extraterrestrial force behind this," Internet users admire.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that the British John Tinniswood at the age of 111 entered the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest man in the world. He survived two world wars and even met Queen Elizabeth. Despite the venerable number of years he has lived, the man still actively communicates, has hobbies, and claims to feel 80.
