A 12-year-old refugee from Ukraine made it to the final of the Dutch national selection for Junior Eurovision: she won the "Ukraine's Got Talent"

12-year-old Ukrainian Veronika Morska, who was forced to emigrate to the Netherlands due to the full-scale Russian invasion, reached the final of the national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in a foreign country. She performed the song Zombie by The Cranberries to convey her dreams of ending the war not only at home but also in other countries.

Veronika said she moved to the Netherlands two years ago with her brother, mother, and dog. She has already learned the language and gone to school, but she also wanted to try out for singing shows. She told us about it in the first episode.

The schoolgirl admitted that it took her a long time to get used to the new traditions, culture and mentality, and she was also surprised that children in the Netherlands have only a month of vacation.

She told the hosts that she had won the 9th season of Ukraine's Got Talent and reached the finals of The Voice Kids. In addition, she participated in the national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest from Ukraine but did not reach the final.

"It's a protest song against the war, and with my background, I think it fits me very well. I also want to add that I hope the war will end as soon as possible, not only in Ukraine but in all countries where the war is going on," said the Ukrainian.

By the way, contestants in the Netherlands are addressed only by their first name, but Veronika Morska is the only young singer who participated in The Voice of the Children, won the show Ukraine's Got Talent, performed at the national selection for Junior Eurovision, and moved to the Netherlands in 2022.

Abroad, she sang the national anthem at the Johan Cruyff Arena before the Ajax-Shakhtar charity football match.

Each of the 9 finalists will have a song written for them to perform during the final. Only four performers will compete for the chance to represent the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid. The final of Junior Songfestival 2024 will take place on September 21.
