Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder is an American heavyweight boxer.

Brief biography

Deontay Wilder was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA on October 22, 1985.

Originally Wilder planned to build his sport career in basketball or soccer. But boxing, as a more profitable sport, he was forced to choose because of health troubles with his newborn daughter.

I started to box in 2005. He made his debut in amateur boxing, winning the Golden Gloves tournament in America.

On the Olympics of 2008 Wilder managed to reach the 1/2 finals, but in the end lost to Clemento Russo of Italy. After the loss the boxer decided to go to a higher level and start performing in professional boxing.

The boxer has been married since 2009. Deontay Wilder's wife is Jessica Skales-Wilder. The couple has four children.

• Deontay Wilder and Audley Harrison. A 2013 British fight in which Wilder fought against the Olympic heavyweight champion. Despite the high-profile title of his opponent, Wilder managed to win in the first round, ending the fight by a technical knockout.

• Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz. The March 2018 fight took place in Brooklyn, New York. Despite the extreme difficulty of the fight, Wilder - albeit not by knockout - emerged victorious.

• Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. The fight took place in 2018, in Los Angeles. A rare occasion when a fight involving Wilder ended in a draw.

Deontay Wilder has had a total of 41 professional and 35 amateur boxing fights. In the case of the professional ones, he lost only one fight. And only five fights in Wilder's amateur career ended in defeat.

Because of that, Wilder holds the WBC world title (heavyweight) and also holds the record for the longest winning streak by knockout since the beginning of his career (heavyweight).
