"There are new details of cooperation": Zelenskyy on strengthening the Ukrainian fleet with the help of Britain and the Netherlands. Video

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine will strengthen its navy together with Britain and the Netherlands. New details of such cooperation were announced during the visit of the ministers of defense and foreign affairs to Odesa.

The head of state said this in an address to Ukrainians and the world at the end of the 865th day of the war with Russia, on Sunday, July 7. Zelenskyy also noted that he had told the ministers about the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine. They also discussed opportunities to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

"Today, here in Odesa, there were new ministers of defense and foreign affairs of the Netherlands, as well as the new British defense minister. I briefed them on the situation on the battlefield; there was a report from Navy Commander Neizhpapa. We will continue to strengthen the Ukrainian navy together with the UK and the Netherlands, there are good new details of our cooperation. We also talked today about strengthening air defense, which is our absolute priority, and I am grateful for the readiness to take the next steps, including F-16s," the President said.

He also said that on the Day of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa, he personally awarded the navy servicemen.

Among them are the Hero of Ukraine, Junior Sergeant Vladyslav Andrushchenko, and the men who have been awarded the Crosses of Military Merit, the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Order and the Order for Courage. The Head of State awarded the Order of Princess Olha to Sergeant Iryna Bovshchyk, a combat medic of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.

Zelenskyy also visited the defenders of Ukraine who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after being wounded in battles with the Russian occupiers.

"I am proud of each and every person who really makes a difference for our country: defends the state, opens up new opportunities for Ukraine. They fight for Ukraine, work, and gain international support for our country. Each of our joint results - including the result in the Black Sea, the expulsion of the Russian fleet - is the achievement of many of our people who did not betray both the state and themselves. Glory to you all!" the President said.

In addition, he informed that he had held a meeting on the situation in Odesa and the region, namely on security, the work of our transport arteries, energy, and social issues.

"And one more thing. I would like to especially thank our 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade for another downing of a Russian combat aircraft in Donetsk region, the twelfth in as many months. Your accuracy is truly exemplary! Well done!" Zelenskyy added.
