North Korea has handed over 1,000 containers of ammunition to Russia - US ambassador to NATO

The United States has information that North Korea has transferred more than a thousand containers of artillery shells to the aggressor state of Russia for use in the war against Ukraine. This information is confirmed by satellite images.

This statement was made on Wednesday, December 20, at a briefing in Washington by US Ambassador to NATO Julian Smith, Ukrinform reports. According to her, the supply of ammunition took place recently.

"According to our data, the DPRK has transferred more than a thousand containers of military equipment and ammunition to Russia," Smith said.

According to the U.S. representative, satellite footage showed the movement of these containers on cargo ships from North Korea to Russia.

Washington strongly condemns Pyongyang for helping Moscow with weapons that will undoubtedly be used by the Russians against the Ukrainian people, to shell cities and wage an illegal war, she said.

Smith also said that the United States believes that the DPRK is seeking to obtain certain military technologies from Russia in exchange for ammunition. Pyongyang's "wish list" may include surface-to-air missiles, fighter jets, armored vehicles, ballistic missile production equipment, and other weapons.

According to Bloomberg, since August 2023, the DPRK has sent more than a million artillery shells to Russia, which the aggressor needs to continue the war in Ukraine. Several North Korean instructors were also sent to the Russian occupiers to teach them how to use these warheads.

To transport ammunition from the DPRK, the Russian army uses the Danube port near Vladivostok.
