"We have no right to spit in the face": Paralympic vice-champion speaks emotionally about Russians
Lyudmila Danilina, the vice-champion of the 2024 Paralympic Games, criticized the admission of Russian athletes to the competition, which ended the day before in Paris. Our athlete emphasized that she was forced to constantly face representatives of the aggressor country.
Danylyna said this in an interview with Suspilne Sport. The 38-year-old athlete harshly criticized the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Andrew Parsons, who, according to Liudmyla, adheres to Russian propaganda narratives about sports outside of politics.
"We are forced to eat in the same canteen with them, live in the same Paralympic village, and we have no right to spit in their faces, because I will be punished for that. I will be punished for the fact that my people are dying. I can't spit in their faces and I have to walk around with this for two weeks. It is very difficult for our entire state. And sometimes our state is like a deaf mute: everyone wants to help us, but no one does. The Mongols do not imprison Putin, and other countries do not help us. And this person who is in charge and invited neutral athletes... I want to address this person: you are not worthy. Because you have sold out the whole sport," Danilina said.
Earlier, it became known how Russian Paralympians provoked Ukrainians at the 2024 Games. And our swimmer Oleksandr Komarov refused to take a joint photo with Russian Kirill Pulver during the award ceremony.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian athlete Ihor Tsvetov twice beat the Russians at the 2024 Paralympics and forced them to listen to our country's anthem.
