"Scandinavians are in charge": Russian Olympic champion says the return of Russians to world sport is a "surreal wish"

Legkov speaks out about sanctions

Alexander Legkov, the champion of the disgraceful 2014 Sochi Olympics, expressed confidence that the chances of Russian skiers returning to international competitions in the near future are almost zero. He complained that Scandinavian countries would oppose the representatives of the aggressor country.

Legkov said this in a comment to the TASS propaganda news agency. The deputy of the United Russia party and an ally of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime also added that he was not sure whether Russian skiers would compete at the 2026 Olympic Games.

"It's unlikely that I would give it even 3% probability, it is a surreal wish. No one will be allowed to go anywhere because the Scandinavians are in charge there. Even if the FIS agrees to allow our athletes to participate in a neutral status, they will start boycotting and withdrawing. And there will be no ski racing without them, so who will compete? Are there any chances to compete at the 2026 Olympic Games? If the approach is the same as during the Summer Games, the objections of the Norwegians and Swedes will not be heard because I think they will be guided by a common agenda," said Legkov.
