"Discrimination based on nationality": famous Russian coach throws a tantrum as KHL ignores the 200th match of his career

Rotenberg criticized the KHL

The head coach of the Russia-25 team, Roman Rotenberg, was offended by the fact that the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) management did not congratulate him on his 200th match in the tournament. The coach of St. Petersburg SKA called it "discrimination based on nationality."

Rotenberg said this at a press conference after SKA's match against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Sports.ru reports. The son of oligarch Boris Rotenberg, a longtime friend of dictator Vladimir Putin, demands special attention - he even forced his hockey players to buy him a cake and a T-shirt with his photo.

"The league did not congratulate the SKA head coach on his 200th game. Not even a word was said. Neither on the website nor today with the arrival of the league's vice president. Perhaps we should appeal to the league's management so that all coaches are respected. Everything should be fair and honest. That is, there should be no discrimination based on nationality. Let's work together to make sure that everything is always right and fair! I'm taking this opportunity - I'm playing my anniversary game today - to address the KHL management," Rotenberg said.
