Was there a conflict? Rebrov spoke about the situation with Yarmolenko in the national team of Ukraine
Ukraine's head coach Serhii Rebrov denied rumors that Andrii Yarmolenko learned about his non-call-up to the team for the Nations League match from media reports. According to the Blue and Yellows coach, when he was forming the main and reserve lists for the games against Georgia (October 11) and the Czech Republic (October 14), he explained his position to the Dynamo captain.
Rebrov said this at a press conference in Poznan, where the Ukrainians will play against the Georgians. The national team coach noted that due to the huge number of injuries, his staff decided to rely on Premier League players this time, many of whom received their debut call-ups.
"We have called up more players from the national championship now. This is their chance. Yarmolenko did not make it to the national team because there is high competition among the players of the national championship. We see the Nations League as a tournament where we can look at candidates for the national team. I talked to him, explained, and told him my position. He is a special player. I talked to him. We need to give the candidates an opportunity. Those players who have been called up and recalled, they deserve their chance. This does not mean that we do not want to win the upcoming matches. The Nations League is an opportunity to make it to the World Cup. We want to show our level," said Rebrov.
It should be noted that Yarmolenko was transferred to the main list, but then dropped out of the game due to injury. We would like to remind you that the Ukrainian national team had a bad start in the new draw of the League of Nations. Our team lost to Albania and then lost to the Czech Republic.
