The Executive Council of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended the IOC to withdraw the recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA), reports Inside the Games. According to media reports, the final decision will be taken at an extraordinary session of the IOC to be held June 22 online.
The IOC Executive Board concluded that the IBA had failed to meet the conditions imposed on it to lift the IBA's suspension of recognition.
In response, the IBA characterized the recommendation of the IOC Executive Board as "truly disgusting and purely political. The Russian president of the IBA, Umar Kremlev, and stated that it "does not reflect the reality of a situation where exceptional progress has been made in reforms and internationally recognized standards of good governance.

The IOC believes that boxing should retain its place in the Olympic program of the 2024 Games. Boxing was excluded from the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. If the sport is returned to the Olympics, the IOC will not allow the IBA not to organize an Olympic tournament in Los Angeles in 2028.

In its report, the IOC said it had no choice but to suspend IBA recognition because of the seriousness of the situation.
"Despite the various chances given to the IBA, including the roadmap from 2021 to 2023, to solve various problems with real and effective evolution, the IBA has failed to provide the elements that would allow it to lift its suspension," the report said.
