Baldock died in the pool of his house

George Baldock, a defender for Panathinaikos and the country's national team, which will play a Nations League match against England on October 10, died suddenly the night before. The native of Buckingham, England, was 31 years old and was found dead in the pool of his home in Glyfada.

This was reported by enikos.gr. It was preliminarily established that the athlete drowned, but it is not known what led to his death. One of the causes of death is a heart attack that Baldock could have suffered while in the water.

Investigators found a bottle of vodka near the pool. However, it is not yet known whether the football player drank on the evening of his death or whether it had been there since the previous days. Two glasses were also found. At the same time, the version of murder was completely ruled out.

Baldock's death became known after his wife started looking for him. The day before, the footballer's child had a birthday, so the girl, who lives in England, was looking for her husband by phone. As a result, she asked the owner of the house to visit George, who was found in the pool without signs of life. According to experts, the player's body had been in the water for at least five hours.

Until this summer, George Baldock played in his homeland, and his main team was Sheffield United, with whom the right-back returned to the Premier League. In June 2024, he signed a contract with Greek side Panathinaikos. Two years before, the athlete, who has Greek roots, made his debut for the national team of this country. He managed to play 12 matches for the Hellenes.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in Finland, during a First League football match between TPS from Turku and Jaro from Pietarsaari, fans began shouting insults at Russian players.
