Christmas donuts according to Daria Tsvek's recipe: an ancient dish that every housewife can make

Pampushky are a traditional Ukrainian dish served at Christmas. In addition, housewives often prepare this dessert on a regular day, because it is really very tasty and adored by children.

A food blogger with the nickname irina_kozachuk_ presented a recipe for perfect donuts on Instagram that everyone will definitely like. In fact, this recipe belongs to the incredible Galician chef Daria Tsviek, and her dishes are always unsurpassed.

Ingredients:

  • Milk - 250 ml
  • Fresh yeast - 50 g
  • Sugar - 100 gr
  • Butter - 100 gr
  • Eggs - 2 pcs
  • Flour - 630-650 g
  • Lemon zest - 1 pc
  • Cognac - 2 tbsp.
  • Jam or poppy seeds for the filling.

Method of preparation:

1. To the warm milk add 1 tbsp of sugar, 1 tbsp of flour, and fresh yeast. Stir until smooth, cover with a towel, and leave to rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.

2. Pour the cognac into the dough, add the zest, melted butter, and eggs mixed with sugar. Stir well.

3. Add flour in parts and knead the dough. Knead for 10-15 minutes, the dough will be soft and will lag behind your hands, although it will be a little sticky.

4. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place.

5. Form the dough into balls weighing 40 grams each.

6. Flatten the ball in the palm of your hand, put the filling, and cover the dough.

7. Cover the doughnuts with a towel and let them rise for 10-15 minutes.

8. Fry the doughnuts in heated oil over low to medium heat, turning them over frequently.

9. Put the finished donuts on a paper towel and let them cool completely.

10. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
