Bayern's chances collapsed: supercomputer updates forecast for Champions League winner

English Manchester City confidently defeated Danish Copenhagen in the first match of the Champions League 1/8 finals and strengthened its position in the list of the main contenders for victory in the tournament. At the same time, the fiasco of Bayern Munich in the match against Lazio Rome literally ruined the Germans' chances of triumph.

This is stated in a study by the Opta supercomputer, which updated its forecast for the future trophy winner after the start of the playoffs. City continues to be the clear favorite among all 16 participants with a 33% probability of winning.

Real Madrid is in second place with a considerable gap. Its chances of winning the cup are estimated at 19.6%. Next are Inter Milan (11.48%) and French PSG (9.35%).

The top five contenders for winning the 2023/24 Champions League are rounded out by Arsenal of London with 7.85% chances of success. It is being pursued by the aforementioned Bayern Munich. Its probability of success has dropped from 10.09% to 5.17%.

The supercomputer believes in the triumph of the Danish "Copenhagen" the least. The machine calculated the probability of this team winning the cup at 0.01%. It is worth noting that Manchester City is the current winner of the European Champions Cup.
