"I love this incredible man": Usyk speaks about fight with Fury and names his main trump card
Unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) admitted that he is not 100% sure about his fight against Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs). At the same time, our compatriot expressed his incredible excitement about signing a contract for the fight for the super-heavyweight title.
He stated this in an interview with the British edition of The Guardian. According to the Ukrainian holder of three championship belts, he has no problem with the fact that the fight with Tyson was postponed after Fury's fight against Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs), in which the Briton was knocked down.
"I am very pleased. I want this fight to take place. It was supposed to take place on December 23, but you saw what happened. The fact that it's postponed doesn't create any problems for me. I'm not 100% sure that the fight will take place. Only when I'm standing in one corner of the ring, Tyson Fury is in the other, a referee in a white shirt is standing in the middle and I hear the first round bell, I will realize that the game has begun," Usyk said.
Our boxer added that he has great sympathy for his future opponent. In addition, Oleksandr noted that he was not offended by Tyson's various insults at all, and also called his motivation the main key to victory.
"He's big, he's tough, he's strong. I'm a little smaller, but I have a lot of motivation and I'm hungry for boxing. I'm not motivated by money, I'm not interested in material things. I'm concerned about my path. Maybe Tyson Fury wants to insult me by calling me all kinds of names. Listen, I grew up in a village with the surname Usyk, with a gap in my teeth, so I heard a lot of insults against me. I love this incredible man. I don't have a hostile attitude. I just love people. And I love Tyson Fury too," the Ukrainian summarized.
The media has announced the date of the Usyk-Fury fight. Journalists also claimed that the British boxer was threatened with a $240 million lawsuit if he refused to fight Oleksandr by the end of the year. The Ukrainian himself admitted how the postponement of the fight affected him.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Oleksandr Usyk did not disclose his tactical plan for the fight with Tyson Fury. In addition, it became known that the Ukrainian is being set up for a fight against the Briton. Also, bookmakers have drastically changed their quotes for the confrontation.
