How the cast of "Charmed" has changed 25 years later

The first episode of the cult series "Charmed", which in Ukraine is better known as "All women are witches", was released back in 1998. The story of the three witch sisters, the most powerful and good in history, was so much liked by viewers that it lasted for eight whole seasons. The first three featured Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) battling demons and witches, but after Prue died in the third season finale, her place in the trio was taken by Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan).

Twenty-five years after the release of the series, getting to know some of its main actresses and actors has become quite a challenge. OBOZREVATEL decided to show how the most popular "witches" in the world have changed over a quarter of a century, as well as other characters of the cult project.

Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell)

Shannen Doherty played the oldest of the Halliwell sisters. She was 27 years old when the first season was filmed, and now the actress is 51. Prue dies in the final episode of the third season, but few people know that this turn was invented by the producers and directors not because they wanted to add spice to the plot, but because they got tired of coping with the star's complex character and fired her.

Dougherty continued to make movies, but she was never able to surpass the success that "Charmed" brought her. Building a career became more difficult in 2015 when the actress was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. For a while the cancer receded, but in 2020, Shannen reported that she had a relapse and is now in stage four.

Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell)

Combs started starring in the series when she was 24 years old. It brought the actress real fame and crazy popularity. However, when the last episode of the final eighth season was screened, there was a lull in the celebrity's career. Projects in which she starred were not as successful as "Charmed". However, the artist can boast of work in the TV series "Pretty Little Liars" and "Grey's Anatomy". Now Holly is more engaged in producing, as well as charity work. She is raising three sons.

Alyssa Milano (Phoebe Halliwell)

The role of the youngest of three witch sisters went to the then 25-year-old Alyssa Milano. Participation in the project, as well as her colleagues, brought the actress unprecedented popularity. Together with Holly Marie Combs, who became her close friend, she was involved in the production of the last four seasons of the series. Milano also tried her hand in the fashion industry and released her own line of underwear. But the star has practically stopped acting, so you are unlikely to find successful film projects with her participation.

It is worth noting that Alyssa Milano actively supports Ukraine in the war with Russia. Back in June of last year, she wore a blue-and-yellow T-shirt from the brand Agolde as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Rose McGowan (Paige Matthews)

Rose McGowan appeared on "Charmed" with the fourth season. According to the storyline, she was Phoebe and Piper's half-sister on her mother's side. She was 28 years old when viewers first met Paige. After the success of the series, the actress career went uphill, but it all came to an end in 2007 because of a car accident. Rose was seriously injured, so that was a long treatment, and then rehabilitation, and even had several plastic surgery in the hope to "restore" the face.

But even after a full recovery, the star was unable to regain her job. Now her name is associated more with scandals than movies. In particular, fans still remember McGowan's two-year romance with the flamboyant Marilyn Manson. In addition, in 2017, the celebrity was arrested for drug use and possession, but was soon released on bail.

Brian Krause (Leo Wyeth)

The story of Brian Krause is probably no different from the previous ones - the series brought the actor international fame, but then there was a lull in his career. He did not get major roles in movies and almost never starred. They say that it was on this basis Krause became addicted to alcohol. He struggled with addiction for over 10 years. The artist tries not to talk about his personal life. It is known that he has a son with whose mother the star divorced back in the 2000s.

Julian McMahon (Cole Turner)

McMahon played a demon in the series, which by the end became good and even fell in love with one of the sister witches Phoebe, and then married her. The actor himself continued to do a lot of acting after the end of "Charmed." He can be seen in the movie "Fantastic Four" and the series "FBI: Most Wanted Criminals." In 2014, Julian married colleague Kelly Pañagua, and he also has a daughter with another actress Brooke Burns.

Previously, OBOZREVATEL told how the actresses from the series "Sex and the City" have changed over 25 years. The first episode of the American comedy-drama project was shown in 1998, and in 2021 the screens came out with a sequel titled "And just so". To find out more - follow this link.
