Scientists calculate when aliens can contact humanity: signal has already been sent from Earth

When contact with extraterrestrial civilisations may occur

What is the probability that life exists on only one planet in the vast universe? Although sceptics still believe that humans are the only intelligent creatures and that aliens are a funny fiction, there has been no direct contact between earthlings and representatives of other space civilisations.

Scientists continue to send signals into space. They have calculated when aliens can contact humanity. The Daily Star has more details.

It has become possible to receive a response from extraterrestrials thanks to the development of technology in recent decades. However, the Universe is so vast that it takes light years for a message to reach its recipients.

NASA believes that signals sent into space could already be received by aliens. But if aliens try to respond, their messages will take 27 years to reach Earth.

Scientists have developed the NASA Deep Space Network or DSN. It is capable of transmitting radio signals to remote parts of the solar system in an attempt to make contact with extraterrestrial civilisations.

Back in 1972, the Pioneer 10 probe was sent into space. It reached a dead star known as a white dwarf (27 billion light years from Earth) in 2002. The probe is currently 12 billion miles from Earth. There were also signals sent to Voyager 2, launched in 1977. According to researchers, the probe could deliver a return message as early as the 2030s.

In a new study published in the journal Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, scientists have compiled a list of stars that will receive signals from Earth over the next century.

But it's too early to hold your breath in anticipation of contact with aliens. The pace of space communication is still, as scientists say, "snail's pace". Critics warn that even if the UFO sends a response, scientists may miss it.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL also talked about the discovery of scientists who learned that stars can destroy life on planets under one condition.
