Sometimes the ladies don't have time to go to a specialist and have to arrange their manicure on their own. Nowadays, when universal and practical gel polish is in trend, it becomes more difficult, because it cannot be removed with simple acetone.
Harper's BAZAAR provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove gel polish at home. To do this, you will need some tools. In particular, a nail file, cotton swabs, acetone, and foil.
1. Remove the top layer. Experts advise carefully removing as much of the top layer as possible with a medium-grit file. Stop when the nail becomes dull. Do not file off all the varnish. Thus, there is a risk of damaging not only the nail but also the finger itself.
2. Soak the nails. This can be done with a cotton swab or a pad soaked in acetone, which should be used to wrap each nail and wrap the tip of the finger with foil. It would be good to wrap your hands in a towel because acetone loves heat. You will have to wait 10-15 minutes. After that, the varnish will peel off the nail plate on its own.
Acetone can be replaced with a teaspoon of salt. Keep your hands in this solution for 20-30 minutes.
3. Clean the nail completely. The remaining varnish can be removed with an orange stick. In no case should you choose a metal one. Scrape off the gel towards the tip of the finger, not against the nail fibers, so as not to damage the nail.
4. Soak the nails. After acetone, the nail plate becomes very sensitive, so it is important to saturate it with useful substances. It can be a nourishing cream or cuticle serum.
