The idea of cooking the most delicious homemade cabbage rolls was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Vitalina with the nickname v.vanilinka. It is very important to add a thick tomato sauce with butter and sour cream to the products.

Ingredients:

  • 600-700 g of minced meat (can be a mix of pork and beef, chicken or turkey - depending on preference)
  • 1/2 cup of rice
  • cabbage (head of cabbage at least 2 kilograms)
  • 2 onions (1 for minced meat + 1 for sauce)
  • 1 carrot
  • 30 g of butter
  • salt, pepper, coriander - to taste
  • 130 g of tomato puree
  • 1-2 tbsp of flour
  • oil - for frying
  • sour cream - for serving

Spices for the sauce:

  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp. dry garlic
  • 1/3 tsp of ground coriander
  • 1/3 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. dry adjika (more is fine)
  • 1 tsp. sugar

1. First, boil the rice for 5-7 minutes (it should be half-cooked).

2. Drain the remaining water and set aside to cool.

3. Add salt, pepper, coriander, chopped onion, and rice to the minced meat. Mix everything thoroughly.

4. Grate the carrots.

5. Dice the onion.

6. Fry the onion in a frying pan. When it becomes transparent, add the carrots and fry for 5 minutes.

7. Add the spices for the sauce, then the flour and stir for 3 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and stir. Add water to the desired thickness (400-600 ml) and cook for 15 minutes. Taste the sauce and determine what is missing. Add spices if necessary.

8. While the sauce is cooking, put the cabbage in salted water, cutting out the middle. When ready, remove the top leaves from the cabbage and make cabbage rolls.

9. Put the rest of the cabbage leaves and a little sauce, then the cabbage rolls in 1-2 layers in a heat-resistant mold, pour the sauce over them and put them in the oven preheated to 180 degrees for 50+ minutes. The more cabbage rolls or the larger they are, the longer they will take to cook.

10. Serve with sour cream and chopped herbs.
