Autumn is a time for flavorful homemade pastries for family tea parties, and the best option is to use seasonal apples and pumpkins to make such treats. These ingredients can be used to create a pie that is very moist inside and has a crispy top.

The idea for making a seasonal pumpkin and apple pie was shared on the Instagram page of food blogger Eduard Nasirov (my_happyfood). It's a quick recipe. Here are the steps:

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 200 g of flour
  • 80 g of butter
  • 2 tbsp of sour cream
  • 40 g of sugar
  • 1 egg yolk

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 4-5 apples (thinly sliced)
  • 300 g of pumpkin (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

Method of preparation:

1. Grind with flour into crumbs.

2. Add the remaining ingredients and knead the dough quickly.

3. Form it into a ball and refrigerate for 1 hour.

4. Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the honey, and introduce the pumpkin as soon as it's dissolved.

5. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes.

6. Add the apples and stir for a few more minutes. Sprinkle cinnamon into the pan and remove it from the heat.

7. Let it cool.

8. Divide the dough into 2 parts (1/3 and 2/3).

9. Roll out most of the dough and place it in a flour-sprinkled mold, shaping the sides.

10. Add the filling.

11. Roll out the smaller portion and cut it into strips.

12. Create a lattice pattern on the pie's surface using the strips.

13. Brush with milk or a mixture of milk and egg yolk, if desired.

14. Place the pie in a preheated 180-190 degree oven for 40-45 minutes until it turns golden brown.

15. Allow it to cool slightly, and serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoy it as is.
