Many Ukrainians love Shuba salad. It combines so many healthy things: fish and vegetables. If not for one thing: mayonnaise.
According to the classical recipe, this sauce consists of eggs whipped with vegetable oil. If you don't eat it in packs, but prepare it yourself, you won't do much harm. There is a way to reduce the amount of mayonnaise used when making the Shuba Salad. After you grate the vegetables for this salad (carrots, beets, and potatoes), do not rush to put them in layers on the herring. Instead, in separate bowls, mix each of these ingredients well with one spoonful of mayonnaise. Then spread the layers as usual. This way, the vegetables will be saturated with the sauce, and there will be less of it in the salad.
