Chanakhi is a hearty Georgian dish based on stewed vegetables and meat. It's easy to make without pots and an oven – there's a very simple alternative. In addition, this dish is deliciously complemented with beans, mushrooms, and always spicy spices.
Food blogger Alex Mil (mil_alexx) shared a recipe for homemade chanakhi with meat and beans on his Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 600 g
- meat - 500 g
- carrots - 100 g
- onion - 120 g
- canned beans - 300 g
- salt, sweet paprika, bay leaf, dried garlic, spices for chicken, Italian herbs
- tomato paste - 3 tbsp.
- vegetable oil for frying - 20 ml
- flour - 30 g
- garlic - 3-4 cloves
- water - 1.5 liters
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare some vegetables: chop the potatoes randomly, cut the carrots into half rings, and chop the onion. Fry the vegetables together in a saucepan for 7 minutes.
2. Then add all the spices to the vegetables: paprika, garlic, Italian herbs, bay leaves. Pour water over everything and cook until the potatoes are soft.
3. Chop and fry the meat separately. It takes about 5 minutes.
4. Then add the chicken spices, flour and chopped garlic to the meat. Stir and cook for another 3 minutes.
5. Add the meat, tomato paste and beans to the pot with the vegetables. Stir and simmer for at least 10 minutes. Then adjust the time as desired: if you want liquid chanakhi, cook less, if it is thick, you will need another 20-30 minutes. Enjoy!
