Don't waste your money on store-bought pita bread because it's easy to make at home. The dough is rolled out perfectly and fried in a matter of minutes. And if you store the finished pita bread properly, it won't get stale for a long time.
The idea of making homemade thin pita bread for shawarma was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Albina with the nickname albik.food. Sprinkle the pita bread with water and cover it with foil to keep it fresh.
Ingredients:
- sifted flour – 350-370 g
- boiling water – 200 g
- vegetable oil – 20 g
- salt – 1/2 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Add salt to the flour.
2. Pour in the oil.
3. Add boiling water.
4. Knead the dough with a spoon at first.
5. Then knead with your hands.
6. Leave to rest for 20 minutes.
7. Divide the dough into equal parts.
8. Form the balls.
9. Roll out very thinly and, if desired, cut thin circles using a bowl.
10. Put the pita bread on a dry frying pan.
11. Fry on both sides until cooked, but do not overcook.
12. Be sure to sprinkle with water and cover with foil to prevent the pita bread from drying out. It should also be stored airtight.
