Healthy herring appetizer: you can eat it every day
Herring is a precious, tasty, and budget-friendly fish that can be used to make salads, snacks, and sandwiches. It also makes a spicy forshmak.
The chef shared a recipe for delicious herring with onions, spices, lemon, and chili juice on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- Herring – 1 pc.
- Red onion – 1/2 pc.
- Green onions – 2 tbsp.
- Hot pepper – 1 pc.
- Bay leaf – 1 pc.
- Allspice – 2 peas
- Salt – a pinch
- Coriander seeds – 1/2 tsp.
- Black pepper – 1/3 tsp.
- Olive oil – 100 ml
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the herring from the bones and skin, and cut it into medium cubes.
2. Add all the ingredients, add the lemon juice at the end, after the oil, so it does not interact with the fish protein, but adds sourness to the oil.
3. Mix well and put in the refrigerator in an airtight container for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
