Boar's knee in beer with honey: an ideal alternative to store-bought sausage
Boar's knee, or pork knuckle as it is also called, is a dish that is a great alternative to store-bought sausage. Although it takes quite a bit of time to cook, it is worth it. Once you have tasted homemade boar knee, you will not want to buy store-bought sausage forever.
Food blogger Oleha Yermolenko shared her recipe for boar knee in beer marinade on Instagram. She also added an interesting ingredient to this recipe - honey.
Ingredients
- Pork knuckle - 1 piece
- Beer - 0.5 liters
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Carrots - 2 pieces
- Parsley - 1 bunch
- Bay leaf
- Black pepper
- Salt
Method of preparation
1. Peel the vegetables and cut them into large pieces. Put them on the bottom of the pan.
2. Put the pork knuckle on top and pour beer over it.
3. Add enough water to cover half of the pork knuckle.
4. Put on the fire and cook for an hour. Then turn the pork knuckle over and cook for another hour.
5. Take the pork knuckle out of the marinade, brush with a mixture of mustard with honey and oil, salt and black pepper.
6. Put in a preheated 180-degree oven for 40-50 minutes.
7. Open the oven every 10 minutes and brush the pork knuckle with the remaining mixture.
