26-year-old nurse wins the world's first makeup-free beauty contest: not even lip gloss is allowed

The world's first makeup-free beauty contest was held in London

Natasha Beresford, 26, who works as a nurse in a dental clinic, became the first ever winner of a beauty contest where participants are not allowed to wear makeup. She was crowned Miss London 2023 in the regional selection for the Miss England pageant.

It was attended by 19 contestants who could not even use lip gloss. The winner of the unique competition was featured in the Daily Mail (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).

They started preparing for the innovation last year, when they asked to submit photos without filters, makeup, or editing. The contest organizers decided that the natural beauty of the participants, which cannot be seen under a layer of cosmetics, should be evaluated.

The concept of this decision is aimed at empowering women, boosting self-confidence and promoting a more realistic body image.

This year, Natasha Beresford will compete in the larger Miss England pageant, where she has a chance to win the right to participate in an international competition. The 26-year-old beauty works as a nurse in a private dental clinic in London. She sees her future in this field.

"I plan to volunteer at Dentaid dental clinics in the UK, where they provide dental care and oral health counseling to people who are homeless, victims of violence, poor families, refugees, cancer patients, and people recovering from drug addiction," said the winner.

She wants to use her victory to help women around the world feel more confident without makeup.
