The flag was raised for a reason: the Queen of Denmark denied rumors of problems with King Frederik and announced the tragic news

On April 3, Queen Mary of Denmark returned to her royal duties after an Easter vacation with King Frederik and their four children. Wearing an elegant blue outfit, the royal went out in public to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the National Guard.

However, on the night before the celebration, a tragedy struck: a female soldier on night duty in the park died of cardiac arrest, HELLO reports. This was the explanation for the raised flag over the royal mansion, as experts had previously suggested that it was due to a family drama.

The royal flag is only flown when the king, queen, or crown prince are at home, prompting royal fans to think that the family vacation did not go as planned.

Queen Margrethe's regent's flag was also flying, leading many to assume that either Queen Mary or her son Prince Christian was at home, as there would have been no need for the regent to attend if King Frederick had been present.

The main topic for gossip was the photo of the king with Mexican socialite Genoveva Cazanova, which the media published in October 2023. The pictures of the couple enjoying a late-night walk in Madrid infuriated Maria's fans.

When the Queen took to the podium to address the military, she paid tribute to the troops, saying: "For 75 years, the National Guard has created security for Danes. Before we start the celebration, I would also like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the victims who died last night." A minute of silence was then observed.

Mary is closely associated with the National Guard, as she received military training in the regiment in 2008. In 2015, the Queen was promoted to first lieutenant, in 2019 she became a captain, and in 2023 – an honorary major.
