"It was a difficult period in the 90s": Zelensky tells how his parents made him the future president of Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about his upbringing and how his parents contributed to his son's career in politics. According to the official, his father is a scientist and his mother is an engineer.
"But it was a difficult period in the 90s. Such families were not rich. You had to work. So I had to work. Study and work," Zelensky explained in an interview with BBC News Ukraine. The President believes that this made him grow up honest, with love for the country and family.
"I believe that I am very responsible. I cannot do my job poorly," the politician added. The leader of the state noted that he does not consider himself special and is grateful to his parents, in particular, for giving him a law degree at the university. Zelensky continued: "They were sometimes very strict with me. I went to school like many different ordinary children, but I had to study a lot, read the right books and have the values of ordinary normal people."
