1+1 TV channel apologizes for the displaced woman from Skadovsk: the scandalous episode of Kvartal 95 will be cut

"1+1 apologized for the scandalous number in the 95th Quarter episode.

One of the New Year's Evening Quarterly episodes broadcast on December 31 outraged the public so much that 1+1 TV channel had to apologize. It mocked the Ukrainian language of an IDP from Skadovsk, although Kvartal 95 claimed that it intended to show that it was okay to speak Ukrainian with gross mistakes.

The 1+1 press service toldDetector Media that "the full episode of New Year's Quarter will be re-edited and published on the channel's platforms without this issue." However, the scene was never removed, and it is still available on the YouTube channel Studio Kvartal 95 Online, both as a separate video and in the full concert recording.

"We understand the public outrage and apologize to the audience who were offended by this performance. The creative team that created this issue did not want to offend the feelings of Ukrainians in any way. In the issues of Evening Quarter, the team jokes at themselves, raises topical issues, sometimes hyperbolizing them, because this is one of the laws of humor. This was just such a case," the 1+1 press service said.

TheKvartal 95 studio also commented on their show. They stated that they respect all IDPs and did not want to offend the residents of the temporarily occupied Skadovsk. In their defense, they stated that they wanted to "show that it is not scary to make even gross mistakes when switching from Russian to Ukrainian, it is more shameful to continue speaking the language of the enemy."

"In the Evening Quarter episodes, we joke about ourselves, our shortcomings, and, of course, sometimes we exaggerate. This was just such a case. We wanted to show that it's never too late to learn to speak Ukrainian, even if you haven't spoken it before. Some people still don't switch to Ukrainian because they are afraid of making mistakes. The best way to overcome fear is to laugh at it," 1+1 media said in a statement.

In particular, the mayor of Skadovsk, Oleksandr Yakovlev, reacted to the "comic" act. He condemned the immorality of the scene and said that "Skadovsk speaks Ukrainian," even though they used to use Russian in everyday life. He started the flash mob by reciting a poem by Hryhoriy Chubay "It's not easy to live in the twentieth century" and invited the locals to join in.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Skadovsk issue also outraged Rustam Khudzhamov, the coach of the Ukrainian national football team's goalkeepers. He spoke very emotionally and called the actors "a bunch of morons".
